Gibault provides community services to Region 8 that include outpatient counseling, diagnostic and evaluation services, risk assessment and treatment for youth who have engaged in sexually harmful/reactive behavior, supervised visitation, and day reporting.
Outpatient Counseling Services
Outpatient counseling services, comprised of individual and family therapy, are provided for all genders ages 6-18 by a master’s level licensed or license-eligible clinician. Issues of focus may include behavioral problems, emotional dysregulation, developmental disorder, trauma-related disorders, sexually reactive/harmful behavior, and mood-related difficulties. Gibault accepts most major insurances.
Counseling hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm, and Friday 9am-4pm.
Diagnostic and Evaluation Services
Diagnostic and evaluation services are provided by licensed master’s level therapists, license-eligible master’s level therapists, a licensed psychologist and HSPP, and doctoral psychology interns working under the HSPP. Gibault utilizes credentialed sexually abusive youth clinicians for the purpose of risk assessments. These assessments include risk assessment, psychological testing, and trauma assessment.
Sexually Harmful / Reactive
Youth Treatment and Assessment
Gibault employs credentialed sexually abusive youth clinicians trained by INAJSOP to work with youth who have engaged in sexually harmful or reactive behavior. A risk assessment may be conducted for youth who are over 12 years or involved with the juvenile or CHINS legal system when there is definitive information that the youth engaged in sexually abusive behavior. An assessment for youth under the age of 12 may be conducted for those who have engaged in sexually reactive behavior, risky behavior to self, or harmful behaviors. Victim clarification could be part of the treatment depending on the factors for each individual case.
Supervised Visitation
Gibault is contracted with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to provide supervised visitation. Referrals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine if Gibault can meet the needs of the family. Visitations may take place on Gibault’s campus or in the community. Paraprofessional staff will assist the family in strengthening the parent-child relationship by teaching positive communication skills, age-appropriate discipline, and healthy boundaries and activities.
Day Reporting
To be considered for day reporting, a referral must meet the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) standard of being on long-term school suspension or have a current history of suspension or expulsion. If accepted, a student may need to engage in credit recovery or attend Gibault’s accredited school. Depending on the length of time a student spends at Gibault daily, they may be included in the residential psychoeducational independent living skills treatment groups that occur in the living units. Counseling services may be requested by DCS through the KidTraks system in accordance with the procedure identified by Indiana DCS.
