Psychiatric Residential Treatment
Facility/Private Secure
Gibault's PRTF/PS program is designed to meet the educational, emotional, spiritual and social needs of youth. The program provides a consistent and structured environment for youth to learn and demonstrate new behaviors while improving emotional stability. The PRTF/PS program is a locked, secure living unit with a staff to youth ratio of 1 to 4 and at least 2 staff present at all times.
Youth are engaged in intensive services including at least 3 therapy sessions per week which may include any combination of individual, group and family therapy. Psycho-educational residential treatment groups may focus on social skills, emotional regulation and stress management. All youth in the PRTF/PS unit are under the care of a psychiatrist for psychiatric evaluation and medication management. There are on-site medical staff accessible 24 hours a day. Gibault has adopted a Stages of Change Model which is a collaborative approach where youth are encouraged to take a leadership role in their own treatment by identifying those issues they want to change and having ownership of how they decide to do that.
Gibault believes in a holistic approach to youth treatment; therefore, caretaker involvement is essential to the therapeutic process and outcome. Family/Caretaker engagement is required starting with the admission process and continuing through discharge planning. Additionally, families are encouraged to participate through engaging in phone calls, sending mail, participating in therapeutic day passes and home visits, participating in treatment team meetings, engaging in family therapy and attending special events such as the annual Education Open House and Family Day.
