Recreation and Sports Programs
The recreation program at Gibault offers a variety of activities and special events for our clients. Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and helping each client experience success in sports and recreational leisure-time activities. Traditional recreational activities such as basketball, softball, flag football, soccer, and swimming are enhanced with activities such as fishing, theatre, physical fitness, track, and cross country. We also offer canoeing, hiking, and camping as activities that can lead to more healthy outlets once a client leaves Gibault.
Gibault also challenges clients with a series of activities included in our Creative Alternatives In Recreation (CAIR) program that lasts throughout the summer. Clients work on team building activities such as Paper Mache, flag designs, history projects, leaf collections, and scavenger hunts.
To compliment the recreation program at Gibault, Holy Cross High School, Gibault's on campus educational facility, joined in the Indian High School Athletic Association in 2001. We participate interscholastically throughout the state of Indiana and into Illinois in boy's and girl's basketball, track, cross country, and baseball. Our Athletic program has been awarded the IHSAA Sportsmanship in five of its 6 eligible seasons.
