Admission Criteria

Please note that this is general Admissions criteria for the main Terre Haute Campus.  You should consult the specific programs for additional criteria for admissions.

A client accepted at Gibault is usually between the ages of 6 and 17 years at the time of admission. Clients over the age of 17 years will be considered on an individual basis.

Gibault accepts referrals from special education departments/cooperatives, Department of Child Services, juvenile courts/probation departments, Department of Corrections, or other similar agencies. Private referrals are accepted on a limited basis.

A client accepted at Gibault must be capable of participating in the school's academic program, which is certified by the Indiana Department of Education for grades 1 through 12, or be capable of participating in the GED program.

A client accepted at Gibault usually must have a measured IQ of at least 70. However, because of the many variables inherent in intelligence testing, a client who demonstrates ability and achievement contradicting a measured IQ score will be considered.

All clients must be in relatively good physical health and be able to participate in most of the athletic programs. Gibault does not provide medical services to students with serious chronic health problems that would require regular and close medical supervision.

All referrals will be considered on an individual basis to determine the appropriateness for placement.

If a client is accepted, the Admissions Coordinator will send the agency a notice of acceptance and an application for admission and purchase of services.

Gibault can provide transportation for admission pick-ups and court hearings.

Please note that Gibault takes no responsibility for expensive personal items, such as radios, guitars, cameras, game systems, etc. If a client chooses to bring such items, it is recommended that they be inexpensive because they could be broken, lost, or stolen.

For referrals or admission information concerning any of Gibault's programs and services, please call (812) 298-3013.
